Howdy Bill, we would be in a heap of trouble if we had a cold front descending through the gulf of Mexico, or even a high pressure off the coast of South Florida. In the absence of both, the storm has a free path north to the gulf coast. When it gets there it will probably be some sort of hurricane, not as strong as the others we have seen me thinks.
One of these in about a month or so with a cold front combo could make it stationary over us like Mitch or Stan and dump tons of rain at the worst possible moment and cause heavy losses in Honduras. Remember that at this time of the year cyclogenesis is north of Costa Rica and Panama.
