CEPEA: Increase of Humidity in Brazil Favors Flowering of Coffee Crop
CoffeeNetwork (New York) – The latest report from the Center of Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (CEPEA) notes the rains early October were sufficient to stimulate the opening of the flowers in the Arabica coffee plantations in most of the producing regions surveyed by Cepea. The event was highly anticipated by the industry, as the first flowering, which began in late August, were affected by the dry climate in September.
Regarding the physical market, despite the recovery of external and domestic prices at the end of last week, the industry's great expectation of the flowering in Brazil in recent days kept agents withdrawn from the market, and domestic liquidity remains low.
As for Robusta, producers of Espírito Santo are still excited about the next season, since, according to agents consulted by Cepea, the rains of early October were beneficial for the variety, aiding the setting of flowers. In the physical market, sellers remain retracted and negotiations are slow.
