Brazil Soluble Coffee Exports Expected to Fall 15 Percent in 2017
CoffeeNetwork (New York) – According to local news sources, the Brazilian Association of the Soluble Coffee Industry (ABICS) has estimated that soluble coffee exports from Brazil will fall by almost 15%, or 500,000 bags, in 2017 compared to the previous year.
The drop in exports represents the lower Conilon (Robusta) crop from Brazil following drought conditions in the main Robusta producing regions, such as Espirito Santo.
According to data from the Brazil Council of Coffee Exporters (Cecafé), the country shipped 3.87 million bags of soluble coffee in 2016, but exports for 2017 should fall back to levels not seen since 2010, around 3.3 million bags.
