Colombia Coffee Production Falls 21 Percent in November, Exports Also Decline 12 Percent
CoffeeNetwork (New York) - As a result of the strong and constant rainfall in much of the country, coffee production from Colombia since the start of 2017 fell 2%, totaling 12.6 million bags compared to 12.9 million bags harvested between January and November 2016.
In November production totaled 1.3 million bags, down 21% from the 1.7 million bags produced during November 2016.
In the last 12 months (December 2016 – November 2017), the coffee harvest exceeded 13.96 million bags, a 3% decrease compared to nearly 14.37 million bags produced in the same period in the previous year.
Since the start of 2017, coffee exports totaled nearly 11.8 million bags, 3% higher than the 11.4 million bags exported in the first eleven months of 2017.
In November, exports recorded a 12% decrease compared to the same month of 2016, and in the last 12 months (December 2016-November 2017) exports surpassed the 13.2 million bags, an increase of 5% compared to the almost 12.6 million bags exported in the same period last year.
