Colombia Coffee Production Increases in December, Exports Decline
CoffeeNetwork (New York) – The latest data from the National Coffee Federation of Colombia (FNC) shows that the country produced 14.2 million 60-kg bags in 2017, unchanged from the year prior.
In December, the coffee harvest increased 18% compared to the same month of 2016 at a total of 1.3 million bags.
Since the start of the coffee year (October-December) production decreased 10%, totaling 3.9 million bags compared with the 4.3 million bags in the same period in 2016.
In 2017, coffee exports totaled 13.1 million bags, 2% more than the 12.8 million bags exported in 2016.
In December, exports recorded a 5% decline compared to the same month of 2016, totaling 1.3 million bags.
Since the start of the coffee year (October-December), exports total 3.6 million bags, 9% less than 4 million bags exported during the same period in the previous coffee year.
