You can enter limit orders above the market, if buying for example, during the pre-opening. Very likely you will get filled better than your limit if the selling is sufficient. There was once a system called MO which allows customers to match buying and selling at one price depending on the magnitude of each. Of course at the close we have TAS (Trade At Settlement). Which informs traders your intention to buy, say, at whatever the settlement will be. Presently, there are 239 lots wanted at the close in K, N and U combined. Around 700 lots have traded so far.
