Colombia Coffee Production Rises 2 Percent in March, Exports Down 14 Percent Year on Year
CoffeeNetwork (New York) – The latest data from the Colombian Coffee Federation shows that coffee production in March totaled 1.037 million 60-kg bags, up 2% from the 1.020 million bags produced in March 2017.
Since the start of the calendar year, production has totaled 3.380 million bags, down 6% from the 3.588 million bags produced in the first four months of 2017.
In the last 12 months (April 2017-March 2018), production was almost 14 million bags, a reduction of 4% compared to the more than 14.6 million bags harvested in the same period last year.
Since the start of the coffee year (October 2017-March 2018) production exceeded 7.3 million bags, 8% less compared to the almost 8 million bags produced in the same period of the previous coffee year.
In terms of exports, Colombia exported 1.002 million bags in March, down 14% from the 1.160 million bags exported in March 2017.
So far this year (January-March), exports exceeded 3.2 million bags, a reduction of 7% compared to almost 3.5 million bags exported in January to March 2017.
In the last 12 months (April 2017-March 2018), exports reached 12.8 million bags, a reduction of 2% compared to the more than 13 million bags exported in the same period in 2017.
And so far in the coffee year (October 2017-March 2018), exports reached 6.8 million bags, 10% less compared to the almost 7.5 million bags exported between October 2016 and March 2017.
